According to CNET, Gamecrush is a “social-networking site that acts as a way to let nerdy boys pay cute girls for their attention. What could possibly go wrong here?”

    The way I look at these things is with an open mind. If someone with way too much money wants to waste it by paying girls to play games with them, it’s their call. No harm, no foul.

    As a gamer/geek I personally think it’s sad. Save your cash, watch some pr0n and then use the saved cash for new hardware/software! Or in my case spend some quality time with my lady!! Sadly she doesn’t get the geek side of me, but we can’t have everything.

    Incidentally a huge thank you for making my night shift that much more interesting! I stumbled across your YouTube page while looking for some Linux info (trying to teach myself the inner workings of Ubuntu) which lead me here and in turn to your music choices. We have a few similar tastes like Tiesto and I was after some new tunes…behold Crystal Method! Quality!

    Hot gaming girls are still kind of a rarity and maybe the guys view it as a fetish.

    Is it prostitution? Yeah, but so is expecting to get drinks bought and dinner paid for oneself after showing some cleavage.

    I am on GameCrush and get tired of defending it to people who haven’t even bothered checking it out. At least Nixie went through the trouble of getting a few screen shots but she didn’t talk to a single user?? SO here we go again… First, GameCrush is NOT just about PAYING someone to play. It is a place where real gamers can be found, guys and girls, and they all have legit profiles with pictures, which games they play, some even have schedules. They also have gamer night where you can join up with other GameCrushers to play. Yes there are virtual gifts you can exchange and yes they can be converted to real gifts like games and things. Anyway, I could go on and on – but not once have I ever taken my clothes off and when I receive a gift I genuinely appreciate it – and I have given many gifts in return. Instead of bashing the site why not check it out first. If you don’t like what you see then LEAVE! Last I checked it’s a free world here in the US, so get used to it!

    Renna – A fair point and I am guilty of not checking it out myself. I have just looked at the index page of the site though and it does kind of look like one of those “come here and play with hot girls” kind of sites, but then it is mainly aimed at blokes so I can see their thinking. Perhaps it needs a better index page as it does give the impression that it’s more about hot girls than gaming.

    Regardless, as you say it is a free world in the US…and here in the UK too! If I get the time (and when I get my console back) I may check it out as the underlying idea sounds interesting and a bit of a change from just playing against random people you get thrown in with.

    I don’t know if it’s so much of a violation of Xbox LIVE’s TOS…I’m thinking that the conversation usually happens on the site itself, so there’s nothing the LIVE folks can monitor. In any case, I did the double-agent thing…it was interesting.     Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.. for those of you who don’t watch westerns it means well pretty obviously, don’t be cheap, however buying one person a gift is hardly the comparison of selling sex, despite the vague definition. lul, i also noted you have an amazon wish list <3
