HA! That was great! I usually go with option e.) give up and play against bots. I just don’t have the patience for the online matchmaking. :

  2. Dougie V says:

Haha, great skit. That’s why I usually try and get five people when I play so our match finding time only takes around 30 seconds or so.

I doubt we’ll see the next patch until the second week in January, but like the first Gears, it took a few patches before it hit the sweet spot, sadly. 😛

  3. Marvin says:

I can usually do a few laps around the blogosphere before a match starts. Right now, the best way to shorten the wait is to have at least a party of two, three, or five people; never one or four.

  8. Paul says:

Ha Ha that’s funny… It was like that for a while for me too until I fixed my firewall settings… but I don’t ever seem to have to wait more than a couple minutes now… I must just be lucky.

Great video guys! I too have felt your pain. I’m actually starting to get annoyed with gears, but not just the matchmaking. Which is def broken, and should be changed to at least mimic the same style as COD; persistent rooms, where it’s possible for players to join in between matches.

No my major complaint comes from a recent trend I’ve noticed, in a majority of players, to quit as soon as it becomes apparent their team is not going to win. It saddens me to think that ppl care more about their rank than trying their best to compete and win, no matter how grim the odds.

I really don’t know what’s happened to the spirit of competition. Instead of playing a game and trying your best it seems most would rather give up, so that it might save some symbol of their gaming prowess. I suppose this is all to prove they’re better in some way. Imo it proves the opposite.

Sorry to rant I just had to get that off my mind. It’s my sincere hope that some of these issues are addressed thru patching. I do love this game, and I’d really hate to see it ruined by some very minor things. As for the community, they might be hopeless. *sigh*

dumbest thing I have seen in my lifetime, wait, it made it to Digg. I take that back…get a life..it’s Video Games…

  12. Lynn says:

@d: Apparently you’ve never tried to play GoW2 online. Or, you’re just a fucking tool.

@Stonedrunk: Quitting doesn’t negatively affect your rank in Gears? I would have figured it would kinda like in Halo. If it doesn’t, it should.

  13. Anonymous says:

Great one guys!!!! It does feel like that sometimes, or at least it used to.

@Stonedrunk: Supposedly after the patch it should match people who drop games only with others who drop games.

  14. Stonedrunk says:

Yes dropping from a match does negatively affect your rank. I think it’s a matter of how much. 9 times out of 10 it’s the higher ranked players that I see doing this. It’s either that it doesn’t count as much as actually losing the match, or they’ve given up and just want to get to that next game that much more quickly. These are the only two logical conclusions I can come to, based on what I’ve observed, and I tend to believe it’s the first one.

That was so funny but i dont have to wait that long i guess its really up to the connection or rank that makes it take so long.
