Footage from my LIVE Show – Installing Linux Mint

WARNING: This is a raw, LIVE broadcast (un-edited, only clipped to fit the Youtube time limit) The winner of my Linux Laptop Contest requested the distribution I install to be Linux Mint 10, so here I show you how to install Mint 10 (Julia) in under an hour!

I also installed Wine and Kazam Screencasting tool for him but I couldn’t fit it in this video. Be sure to follow me on Twitter so you never miss out on a live show!

I don’t know if this applies to all versions of windows, but Windows 7 has a program called “Windows Disc Image Burner” (I don’t remember downloading it so I think it’s a program baked into windows) It’s pretty bare bones but it’s effective for burning iso images.

  • I just love you and your show’s. Never commented here, but now i wanna say to you happy new year! Btw if anyone interested here is a video tutorial “how to install linux mint” the blog is in Romanian language, but the movie is in english

Linux Mint offer OEM installation disks to pre-install Linux Mint on computers without setting up a user account. So, why do it the hard way? Or did you want to give a “magical touch”?
Well anyway happy new year! Now I go to shoot the fireworks. And remember to wear safety goggles, little bastards.

    • It may be possible to get an OEM disc from Mint, but it’s soooo much quicker to do a download an iso and burn a disc (or even a USB)

On a slightly different subject, I think it’s really important to have a suitable Swap Partition (about x2 RAM) as there have been reports of laptops freezing and needing rebooting after being put to sleep.

You are correct however it was originally from the Sword of Truth novels written by Terry Goodkind… Very good books the first of the series was named The Wizzards First Rule… These are the books that the TV series was based off of however the books are a thousand fold better.

Its nice that you’re trying to educate people about “Linux”, but I think you should call it “GNU/Linux”[1]. Safe the GNU! πŸ˜‰

But keep up the nice vids!

  • I love FOSS, I think you should call it GNU/Linux too.
I love GNU/Linux too, I used Linux Mint, but today i’m in love with ARCH, you should try it. Or should I tell you there is LMDE(Linux Mint Debian Edition)?
I’m not a GNU/LInux expert, but i would like to say that you are the sexiest Linux user i’ve ever watch on youtube…
Sorry about my bad english, i’m from MΓ©xico…
    Nice site you got here…
    Be happy, be Geek!!!
