We use Pidgin at work and there are a couple of features it lacks that would really make it more useful. First, you can’t invite a whole group to a chat at once, you have to invite members one by one. Second, the addition of screen sharing (w/Audio) would be awesome. Showing someone something is sometimes far, far more effective then telling them about it.

I am a noob to Linux, while I had originally intended to install Fedora, as it is close to Red Hat, I have decided to cut my teeth on Ubuntu as the package seems friendlier and more complete for a newbie. I was still downloading the image when I found your install tutorial and viewed it. I hope that you have more videos on Ubuntu as I learn best with a lecture followed by reading and hands on.

Excellent video, I’ll have to send this link to those who seem doubtful when you give them a LiveCD after they’ve been griping about malware, registry rot, spyware, and other issues from the Redmond OS. Programmers and hobbyists who remember PEEK and POKE don’t need much convincing when they see the UNIX/GNU tools underneath all modern-nice-polish but the rest are skeptical when you hand them a LiveCd of free (“if it’s free, it’s gotta be cheap and crappy stuff…..”) software to preempt the complaining.

After seeing this review i tried it hoping that ubuntu had improved since version 8. in the begining it was nice but after awhile i started to notice alot of performance issues with my laptop lagging when doing simple tasks like browsing and viewing videos on ytube. so i dropped ubuntu and went for fedora, which i feel is better ;p

That’s a nice video review of the last Ubuntu version ! I love it, I already tried it (I use Ubuntu since 8.10 Intrepid Ibex, but I got a heavy problem on Ubuntu installation the last time, I will try again !

You are doing great, Nixie. Those haters leaving mean-spirited and unrelated comments @ OMG Ubuntu are grumps with no sense of humor. Like my old boss used to say, “Don’t let the Bastards get you down.”

IMO, the most helpful content is intro ‘how-to’ stuff presented in a non-threatening and accessible fashion. You know this audience and it is here is where you can be successful. Keep up the good work and you’ll be getting more eyeballs than you’ll know what to do with.

P.S. You belong in SF– you made it this far west already
