Red Faction 3 got some BIG Huevos

When Red Faction: Guerrilla was announced as a third-person shooter last year, fans of the series seemed to have a serious case of blue balls. Since the first two games in the series were popular first-person shooters, Volition is taking a risk by changing the direction of the series in its third installment…

Regardless, the game, which by all indications is still on track for a Q1 release this year, is building up pretty high expectations based on what we’ve seen so far.

It looks like there is a lot to be excited about Gameplay-wise, such as a fully destructible environment, vehicles such as an APC and a walking mech. The weapons are beefy too, like the sledgehammer and a blade-shooting gun full of win. We have seen how the power/jetpacks will affect the game and several multiplayer modes were demonstrated. The game looks like it will be a blast to play (hardy har).

Until now though we have had very little information about the game’s storyline. They must have done something right because I just watched the new Red Faction 3 plot trailer and was floored by it. The trailer definitely has a motion-picture feel to it, and the story will pull you in. I was recently surprised by how immersive and engaging the Gears of War 2 story was and I got a similar feel from this video:
