Theres something about social networking sites I don't like. I come onto the Internet for anonymity from my Rl, and instead love to live and share opinions in the form of my persona Ugashia, but when I go onto facebook and see my grandmother and aunt and all sorts of other relatives who didn't even know this new fangled thing called the Internet did anything other than feed the likes of perverts (like me, but don't tell them) asking me what this thing called "counter striker" is I have listed on my profile is, it kinda takes the fun out. Am i the only one that misses when the Internet was a niche thing?

No it's not paranoia; it's being cautious. What some people don't realize is that online identities are becoming quite the powerful tool, so you should take whatever action you deem necessary in order to protect that. Unlike real life, "trolls" can be very resourceful and malicious when agitated.

Are those little skulls on her.. uh.. outfit?

As for FaceBook, I too appreciated getting 'recommendations' from networks I was in (high school, college, etc), but was wary of giving them my email login so they could notify everyone in my address book, and tell me who was already on.

A suggestion: if you want that particular feature, change your email address -before- you give it to any social sites for the purpose of going though your address book; then, after it's done, change it back. (Or maybe I'm just paranoid?)
