Don't Piss off the Nerd

Let me preface this by saying that I’m all about making love and not war– and I don’t get ticked off easily. Now, my site has required a little more maintenance than usual over the past couple of days. With the popularity of my Geeky Girl top 10 list and a lot of new traffic, the site has started to see some new problems; mischief makers who enjoy using racial slurs and offensive language. wewt!

I had to ban a couple of people, and may be requiring all posters to register an actual address in the future, if these attacks happen more frequently.

My dad went into the hospital this week, and has got me bummed out to the point where I didn’t want to write a blog post yesterday, sorry about that! Because of my Dad being in the state he is, I also had more of a desire to exact revenge on the vile and pestilent spammer that was lingering around. Warning: If strong language offends you, do not read this (these deleted comments are quite vulgar):

He blew up my comment box with crap, and then decided to put something sicky-sweet in there so “nobody could find out it was him.” This sicky sweet message consisted of pretending he was a Gamespot mod, and saying I would be “cool to hang out with”. So, I decided to seek him out on Gamespot.com. He was so hard to find, too. 😛

Here’s the forum post I made when I found him. My apologies that the below image gets cut off, but you get the gist. (“doesn’t make them happy” is the main missed sentence.)

Wondering what the “FAIL”‘s were? Have an exclusive gander: ;D

Fail 1

Fail 2

-Pretending to be different people, but coming from the same IP
-Impersonating a Gamespot.com moderator
-Admitting to being banned in the forums

I don’t know, do you think he failed on that one?

Anyhoo..
I am working on a few fun things (making a video with a buddy regarding Gears of War 2 Matchmaking, a post about Linux’s acceptance in the marketplace) and will have some more content for you soon!

Also, I have been struggling with b2evolution. I put out a call for help last month to anyone who has worked with b2evolution in the past. I could still use assistance. Trying to get thumbnails visible in articles submitted to Digg was a 6-hour chore, and I still have no idea why a thumbnail showed up when my last article was Dugg. Thanks Fanclerks for helping me with my code, I wish we could have figured it out!
